Retreat Trecking Tour in
the Himalaya
Welcome to our Retreat Trecking Tour in
the Indian Himalaya. This ten day tour guides us up to the high
mountains, temples and rivers of the Himalaya in India. Here you will
see the most beautiful landscapes of the Himalaya and you will
endevour the most important and holy temples of the Himalayan area of
India. You will visit the most powerful places where rivers converge into
each other, to become Indias most holy and divine rivers which invite
you to take a bath or to meditate.
Your well english speaking guide will
introduce you into the Hindu culture and he knows lots of interesting
and knowledgeable thinks about the Hindu religion and there faith.
You will track to the most important and old Hindu Temple in mostly
easy walks. The tour will start every day at around 6 to 7 with an
offer for meditation, at 7:30 until 8am will be breakfast and the
departure time will be at 8:30am.
- Day
Our tour starts in Rishikesh after the
breakfast at around 8:30 am.
The first stop will be at the place
where the green Alaknanda and the white Bhanyiathiis are floting into
each other and become the holi river Ganges. Above these rivers you
can visit the the wonderful temple Devbrayag which is very
interesting for his details in architecture. Here the Hindus are
celebrating the start of this famous holy river. We will stay here
for approximitly one hour for meditation or we can visit the Indian
city around the temple.
We continue our trip and drive to
Srinagar. Here the holi man Srinagar reastablished in the 9th
century the Hindu religion. You can find here an old Hindu tantra
yoga temple, where the people were praying and celebrating the Yantra
(holi sign) of Kali here they sacrifieced people before.
The donator of the Hindu religion tried
to explain the people about the true belive and about superstition
and tried to destroy the monument. In the story he turned the stone
upside down and get very sick afterwards. The donator realised his
mistake and started to glorify the holy power of Shakti. This story
is writen down in an old poem which we can sing for you.
Our tracking group will stay over night
at the meeting point of the rivers Nundakini and Alaknanda in
Rudrabrayag, close to a small temple. This is also a healing place
and a wonderfull place for meditation or for a nice walk along the
rivers. The transport between the temples will be organised at this
point with local transports.
- Day
We start our tour in Rudrabrayag and drive to Guptkashi to a
beautifull hidden temple of the Hindu culture.
In 1700meters high we
will visit this interesting Shiva temple.
Afterwards we drive to Tiyugi Narayan,
were the divine fire of the Hindus will burn since ever. This fire is
fouded by Wishnu and it is burning since three ages. Every family of
the village has to take care of the fire during the period of one
year – day and night that this fire will never ever burn down. This
is a huge honour for the people of the village to take care of the
fire of Wishnu.In this temple Shiva maried Parvati and while the
Hindu mariedge ceremonie the couple had to sourround the fire of
Wishnu seven times.
This night we will sleep at the
meetining of the rivers Mandakini and Songanga. Also this place is a
place for healing and a beautiful place for meditation.
- Day
From Sonprayay we drive to Gavikund where we will start our 14km
track up to 3400 meters to the main Shiva temple of the Himalaya. This
temple was founded from the holy Shankracharya. One of the main
divine signs of the Hinduism is the Lingam you can find in this
place. The lingam is a symbol of fertility and it is a symbol
for the female and male principal in the sexual connection. Behind the temple there is the
graveyard of the founder Shankracharya. We will stay overnight on the mountain.
- Day
After the breakfast we can climb up to the glaciers or we can walk to
different small temples of this area or it is possible only to
meditate in the beautifull and powerfull surrounding of the Himalaya
mountains.
- Day
We clim down the 14km from Kedarnath to Gorikund to visit Ukhimath.
This is the winter temple of shiva. In the winter the uper temple
will be clossed because of the snow it is not possible that time to
climb up. To give the people the possiblility to pray the signs will
brought down to Ukhimath in a huge procession in the winter times the
Hindus will pray here to Shiva.
- Day
At the sixth day we will drive up from Ukhimath to Chopta to the
famous summer pasture ground of the sheaparts of the Himalaya in
3000 meter. In the summer the sheaparts bring there animals to this
place and they will live here together with the animals to bring them
to the best food. From this place we have a breathtaking view of over
150 meter on the Himalaya. We climb up in a 2,5 hour tack to the
highest temple of the central Himalaya. In 3600 meter there is a the
Shiva temple Tunganath. In this village you can find the tradition
that one wife only is sharing all the husbands like in the old story
of Arjuna who shared his wife with all his five brothers.

Our tour guides us from Chopta to Gobeshwar to the border of Tibet to
visit the Lord Gopinath temple. Another name for the incarnation of
Shiva is Gopi. This Gopi had many lovers. To pray for him the Hindus
build this temple.
